Large Far-Right Analysis

Using a large dataset containing 49, 373, 905 messages from 170,672 users. This dataset comprises other white supremacist servers which were not included in my dissertations dataset (see Dissertation Work for more) and includes QANON conspiracy theorist servers, Men’s Right’s servers, alt-lite servers, including those of the Proud Boys, chats organizing the January 6th Capitol insurrection, and other general conspiracy theorist servers, many based on Covid-19. I look at the intersections between white supremacist thought, conspiracy theorists and other elements of the far-right and how these can coalesce and create conditions for mobilization. I am espacially interested in finding the links between the sharing of “fake news”, disinformation networks and echo chambers have on far-right mobilization (both in the macro and micro senses).

Importantly, this data set provides insight into recent far-right mobilizations such as the Capitol siege, Proud Boys activism, counter BLM protests and the Qanon movement. This project uses a mix of qualitative and computational methods. More info on this project will be provided soon.
